Veterans' Park and Heritage Park in downtown River Falls have long been the scenes of live music. This week, for River Falls Days, a father and son duo stands out. Ari Silver was welcomed by Chris Silver and his bands in front of and on the stage more than a dozen years ago. I recall him while still a toddler playing air guitar with a mighty childhood passion. He now plays the real guitar very well, blending a lovely singing voice in harmony with his dad. Ari's stage presence is captivating and confident as father and son obviously relish this creative connection. The collaboration, an unusual apprenticeship, provides a delightful rendition, creating a synergy that challenges and elevates them both.
How many professional musician fathers cultivate the same ambition and talent in their offspring from toddler-hood on? Chris stands out, especially as a multi-instrumental bluegrass artist, a teacher and accomplished musician, generously supporting and encouraging other musicians. His contributions enhance the cultural opportunities for our small city.
To hear and see Ari and Chris amplify each others' talents come to the Heritage Park stage Saturday, July 13, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., sponsored by River Falls Community Arts Base. And don't miss the other musical acts listed below.
Music does not end with River Falls Days. Veterans Park is a venue where unique musical styles and artists find an audience in this pleasant outdoor environment, with concerts Friday and Saturday evenings throughout the summer, sponsored by RF CAB. Tuesday evenings the UWRF Amphitheatre finds young children running and dancing on the lawn to great live music. These two organizations, RF CAB and UWRF, along with music in clubs and restaurants provide a lot of culture for our region.
