From her first day in office, Farmington School Board member Melissa Sauser has shown she is a good steward of taxpayer dollars by voting to reduce her own salary as the school district faced financial challenges.

Unfortunately, that decision was overturned at the school board meeting on Monday (Jan. 11), when Sauser was the only member to vote against increasing their pay.

I commend Melissa Sauser for demonstrating that the need for spending restraint doesn’t end just because voters approve a property tax levy, and for having the courage to stand by her principles as a fiscal conservative to keep the taxpayers in mind. I look forward to having her bring that dedication to the Minnesota Senate.
