To the editor:
Minnesotans can be proud that we have one of the highest voter turnouts in the country, but half of us still don't vote in midterm elections like the one coming up on Nov 6, 2018. No matter what your politics are, your vote matters. So many elections in recent years have been decided by only a handful of votes. Early voting has already started.
Our League of Women Voters chapter presents local candidates in a non-partisan format so that candidates can answer questions from the voters who will elect them. The first candidate forum is 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, with Goodhue County sheriff and Goodhue County attorney candidates, and at 7:30 o,n, with MInnesota House candidates at Red Wing City Hall. We encourage you to attend and bring a friend.
If you would like to submit a written question for candidates ahead of the forum, you may email them to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please identify the office/candidate that you would like to answer your question. The forums will also be televised on Channel 6, or you can livestream it from the city website homepage, www.red-wing.org.
We hope to see you there!
Barb Ekstrand is the voter services chair for League of Women Voters-Red Wing.
