Women's March is melting down
TO THE EDITOR
Two years into the movement, the Women's March is melting down. From the outset, it was a fraud. It never represented women as a unified force. It represented radical liberal women angry at the 2016 presidential election results.
The Women's March was not founded in love and it didn't stand for anything; rather, it was solely against President Donald Trump. Founded in hate and identity politics, it didn't stand a chance at surviving its most recent anti-Semitism scandal. The problems of anti-Semitism are deep and serious and warrant every bit of backlash it received. It divided the movement and its demise will be about so much more.
Man or woman, it embodied a small segment of the population that despised President Trump while claiming to represent half the population. It was a lie.
The Women's March does not represent women who believe in equal rights, not extra rights! It does not represent women who do not vote with their anatomy. Newsflash: Women vote with their brain guided by their heart.
Not surprisingly, the movement is falling apart. Hate is not a sustainable force.
In stark contrast, thousands of men and women arrived In Washington, D.C. to support women in the March for Life, for love. Love for the unborn, which is our most fundamental right. It was a wonderful celebration of the 46th year for the March for Life, an anniversary the Women's March will never see!
The Women's March pretending to speak for a majority when it was only a fringe minority is a dishonest, fraudulent, flawed strategy. Most importantly, it is a reminder that everyone reaps what they sow. For the Women's March, that's divisiveness, anger and an incredible amount of hate.
I'll be happy to see it go, because as women, we represent so much more.
Hostages for the Wall
TO THE EDITOR
The loser of the popular vote has had two full years to bring up construction of "The Wall." He's now using this as a distraction to divert attention from his entanglement with Putin and the Mueller investigation. His campaign promise was that Mexico would pay for "The Wall," which was just another lie. American taxpayers are being told to pay for "The Wall."
American taxpayers are this man's and his administration's personal piggy bank. Meanwhile, in apparent violation of the Emoluments Clause, he is making money hand over fist through his organization's many real estate holdings.
This man is personally holding nearly a million government employees hostage for over a month with a government shutdown, one that he proudly accepts full responsibility for. A shutdown that has nothing to do with security on our southern border. These government employees are now, thanks to this man, unable to pay for housing, food, clothing, tuition, health care, transportation, utilities and other obligations that keep them from living on the streets. All this suffering because one man has been denied $5.7 billion of taxpayer money to have an unnecessary barrier built on our southern border with Mexico.
This man is incapable of feeling empathy. For someone who took the oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States it looks a lot like everything has suddenly been rewritten to be solely about him and what he wants.
There is no security issue
TO THE EDITOR
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is rejecting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen's facts for a second time during the longest government shutdown in history.
The first time was to shut down a border security meeting. Now she wants to shut down the President's State of the Union Address. She alleges that the Secret Service wouldn't be ready to provide security because of the partial government shutdown.
According to Pelosi, "The U.S. Secret Service was designated as the lead federal agency responsible for coordinating, planning, exercising, and implementing security for National Special Security Events by Public Law 106-544. Both the U.S. Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security have not been funded for 26 days now - with critical departments hamstrung by furloughs. Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after the government has re-opened for this address or for you [President Trump] to consider delivering your State of the Union Address in writing to the Congress on Jan. 29."
DHS Secretary Nielsen stated "that's actually not a problem." Pelosi said, "I don't care what she said." This was just moments after telling a reporter "It's about security." But just not the kind of security Pelosi believes the Secret Service can provide.
What is Nancy Pelosi really afraid of? It seems she's only concerned about security when it's a State of the Union that will expose what this fight is all about. She's not concerned about securing the southern border of our country. There is no security issue.
It's political. It's wrong. It needs to stop.
