To the editor:

On Wednesday of last week, while I was cleaning my driveway of 8 1/2 inches of snow, I was reminded of why I am thankful to live in a caring community such as Hastings.

The last part of my job was to clear the packed snow at the end of the driveway that the snowplows had left. I was about half done and was wondering if I had the energy to finish, and a pickup truck stopped and a gentleman got out. He asked me if I would like for him to help me. In no time he had the snow cleared out.

For me, he was "a gift from heaven."
