Military display is back

As we close out another school year in Hudson, we would like to take time to let people know that the Military Display at Hudson High School is back! Due to construction, we are missing a number of people who joined the services over the past several years.

We are asking that if there is a family member who has graduated at any time from HHS who has served, or is serving, to be recognized and honored in the new High School display case on the upper East side.

The pictures we use are 4x6, (They can be returned if you let us know), along with their name, branch of service, HHS graduation class, and if they are deployed/living outside of the United States. They can be sent to the HHS office, 1501 Vine St., attention: Military Display.

Thank you for helping us update the display!

Digging a grave for all of us

Britain's government in its stumble over leaving the European Union may be nearly as dysfunctional as our own, but on one score at least the UK has its priorities straight.

The Washington Post reports that outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May, in one of her last acts in office, has committed Britain to zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, the first of the Group of Seven advanced economies to set this goal.

Britain is far from alone in its determination to address the increasingly urgent climate emergency.

Internationally speaking, if anyone is alone, it's us, the United States, in our refusal to face one of humankind's greatest existential threats. In no other nation on earth, Robinson Meyer, Associate Editor of the Atlantic Monthly has pointed out, has a conservative center-right party hardened around a position of climate change denial. We alone, with our Denier-in-Chief, have damagingly and disgracefully isolated ourselves from the effort to save our planet for future generations.

Future generations, in fact, are leading the charge in Britain. The Post reports, "Major protests ... including by children skipping school to march through cities, have helped push climate change toward the top of the political agenda."

A recent Gallup poll suggests that two-thirds of U.S. adults believe that climate change is real and want our government to take meaningful action. So why do so many of our politicians have their heads stuck in the sand? Could it be that Britain has a more responsive, active democracy than ours?

The GOP refusal to take climate change seriously may be digging a grave for all of us. Those who've cynically supported our anti-science president may find that tax cuts and stacked courts don't matter when there's nothing left to buy and no rule of law left to uphold.

The stature gap keeps growing

President Donald Trump grows in stature as a genuine, intelligent, well-respected world leader and the Democrats continue to shrink.

Trump became the first foreign leader to meet with the new Emperor of Japan while desperate Nancy Pelosi announced she would like to see Trump in jail.

Trump had a widely-watched dinner with Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace. As a world leader, Trump was comfortable dining with royals. The following day, he had an exceptional interview with Piers Morgan and subsequent meetings with Prime Minister May and other government leaders went very well, too.

Trump's recitation at Portsmouth of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's prayer on D-Day, June 6, 1944, was stunning and widely replayed in the news.

Trump went to Normandy and gave one of the most powerful and moving speeches, which achieved an extraordinary impact. Our President subsequently met with French President Emmanuel Macron who spontaneously reported to media he respected Trump and they were good friends.

A brief stop in Ireland to meet with the Irish Prime Minister and play a little golf wrapped up THE

MOST SUCCESSFUL TRIP so far in the Trump presidency.

While our President was overseas, he was also orchestrating the first really tough negotiation with Mexico over immigration. Congress has refused to take control of the border/deal with illegal immigration.

Trump focused on a strategy - threatening harsh tariffs - forcing Mexico to control the illegals pouring across its country. Mexico made historic changes including sending 6,000 Mexican troops to its southern border - the first step in getting control of illegal immigration.

As expected, RINOs, Democrats and biased mainstream media criticized and opposed Trump's tariff threats; however, within a few days, it resulted in more progress with Mexico than America had made in decades!

While Trump was proving he was a world leader in Japan, Britain, France, Ireland and Mexico, Democrats were ineffectually talking subpoenas, investigations and lying aka alleging no border problem.

Pelosi's shrinking stature is more than matched by the decay of the Democratic socialist presidential field and the incoherent lunacy and idiocy proffered by three locals who didn't let facts get in their way in an attempt albeit failed to smear Trump.

Americans thank God for Trump.
