RE: “Be Careful Who You Vote For”
I am writing a letter in support of John Becker’s re-election to the Red Wing City Council representing Ward 2. Over the past several years it has become quite evident that our City Council has moved forward time and time again to recklessly spend taxpayer dollars without regard to the consequences to the constituents that they were elected to represent.
The current council, with the exception of John Becker and Kim Beise, do not seem to exhibit much, if any, regard to the spending that they are committing the taxpayers of this City to and to the indebtedness we are all left to deal with into the future. The council recently voted to increase the City budget again, with John Becker and Kim Beise being the only council members to vote against that. We have all heard the phrase “be careful what you wish for”. In this case taxpayers in Ward 2 need to “be careful who you vote for”, as you and your wallet will be dealing with the consequences going forward.
It is interesting to note that John Becker’s opponent for Ward 2 is Andy Klitzke. I have not seen any information made public as to his extended family connection to Councilman Dean Hove. If Andy Klitzke were to win the Ward 2 seat on the council, I would rather doubt that he will ever be voting against any position that Dean Hove might take on any future issues that come before the council.
Hence, the balance on our City Council might end up even more unfavorable to the taxpayers of Red Wing than it already is. The taxpayers of Red Wing need a City Council that is more watchful of the taxpayer dollars that it spends. That is why I encourage voters in Ward 2 to support the re-election of John Becker to represent them.
