This letter is paid content. A school board member is in a place of strong influence over the ways in which the children of the Hudson community receive their education. They act as the district’s jury in choosing the verdict on proposals, processes, plans, and performance. They are expected to be educated, to have a genuine and informed interest in education, and to have high-level critical thinking skills and community credibility. Board members are expected to be passionate, well-studied and experienced in the concept of education, and energized to optimize student outcomes.
I support Addison Filiatreaux because I know that she possesses all the attributes mentioned above. In addition, she has current teaching experience, a graduate degree in reading education, is a member of an age cohort to have learned the most current educational practices, has two boys who will attend Willow River Elementary, and has a continual desire to blend the best of the past with the needs of the future.
I hope you will join me in voting on April 6 to add her to the Hudson School District Board of Education. I endorse her for that position without qualification. [paid letter]
