ELMWOOD - Elmwood High School's girls basketball team led 17-2 after the first quarter against Spring Valley Friday and cruised to a 51-23 win.

The win put the Raiders two games above .500 at 7-5 and 2-4 in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference. It's EHS's best mark at this point of a regular season since 2008.

The Raiders had three scorers in double figures led by McKayla Brunner's 16 points, 13 from Christina McKune and 11 from Janessa VandenBerge.

SV, winless at 0-7 overall and 0-6 in the conference, trailed 33-13 at halftime and came no closer than 15 points in the second half.

However, Spring Valley did have its first player reach double figures in scoring as Emma Gaustad scored 10 points.
