ST. PAUL - Lakeville South star hockey player Justin Kloos is this year's Minnesota Mr. Hockey award winner. The award is given each year to the state's top high school hockey player as judged by a variety of hockey coaches, scouts and media members.

The Frank Brimsek Award was given to Moorhead goaltender Michael Bitzer as the state's top high school netminder. The Class 2A coach of the year honor went to Benilde-St. Margaret's Ken Pauly, while the 1A honor went to Hermantown's Bruce Plante.

ESPN reports the 49ers are bringing in free-agent wide receiver Randy Moss for a workout on Monday. The 35-year-old Moss sat out last season but is making the rounds looking for a job. On Tuesday, he met with the Saints and was reportedly impressive in running through roughly 45 routes. Moss is reportedly scheduled to work out with another undisclosed team this week. The six-time Pro Bowler is tied for second in NFL history with 153 touchdowns. NFL free-agency gets underway Tuesday at noon, however teams are free to sign Moss anytime.

The University of Minnesota baseball team continued its 29-game homestand with a loss to Stony Brook 5-4 yesterday at the Metrodome. Minnesota is now 7-8 on the season. Dan Olinger collected two Gopher hits and drove home a run in the defeat. Minnesota hosts Kansas State at the Metrodome tomorrow and Wednesday.
