MADISON - Nine Rivertowns area wrestlers lost their first matches in the placement round at the WIAA State Wrestling Meet Saturday morning at the Kohl Center and will all wrestle for fifth place this afternoon.

In Division 2, Ellsworth's Tristen Mueller lost a close match at 132 pounds to senior Dalton Gorman (46-6) of Mosinee and teammate Logan Kemmerer was beaten by junior Braxton Portrykus (44-6) of Wittenberg-Brinamwood 10-4 at 152.

In Division 1, Hudson's Dima Hawksford lost 6-4 to Bay Port senior Alexander Walla (38-10) at 160; Derek Schindler was topped by Mt. Horeb/Barneveld's Quinn Faust (49-1), a senior 7-0 at 182 and the Raiders' Eloit Motu was pinned by senior Lucas Stromberg-Windau (45-5) of Tomah in 1:55 at 220.

In Division 3, Spring Valley/Elmwood's Zach Newton was pinned by Crandon's Hayden Krueger in 2:35 at 145.

And the trio of St. Croix Central wrestlers, Cody Nyhagen, Carl Moll and Kyle Aaby all will wrestle for fifth place in Division 2. Nyhagen was beaten 3-1 by Kewaskum senior Brett Scoles (39-4)at 160; Moll lost 7-2 of Brodhead-Juda senior Hunter Colden (49-1) 7-2 and Aaby lost a close match to St. Croix Falls junior Joe Radermacher (44-1) 1-0 at 170.
