It took a one-goal first quarter to wake up the Rosemount boys lacrosse team last Thursday night.

The eighth-ranked Irish shook off the slow start with five goals in the second, and then scored five more in the third and fourth en route to a 16-4 rout of the Cougars at Irish Stadium.

"The boys came out a little flat and were lacking energy and just needed to wake up," Rosemount coach Lance Kuehn said. "We weren't as well-prepared for the game as we should have been and they came out with more energy. We countered that and had a bit more punch starting in the second quarter."

Senior Grant VanOverbeke led the Irish with a season-high four goals, giving him 13 goals in six games this season. He also handed out two assists.

Carter Yepsen scored three times, upping his season total to 13 goals, and also provided a pair of assists.

Conner Yepsen added a pair of goals and three assists, giving him a team-high 18 goals and 25 points.

Garrick Swanson and John Herron each added a pair of goals and Mason Hille and Mitch Anderson scored one apiece. David Blanco and Jonah Halterman had assists.

Chase Olson got the start in goal and stopped 14 Lakeville South shots.

The Irish (4-2) took a four-game winning streak into their slate of three games in five days this week. They took on Bloomington Jefferson Tuesday and travel to Bloomington Kennedy tonight before heading to Woodbury tomorrow night.
