The Hastings Nordic ski team is full of very happy people again this week.
After a number of years with little to no snowfall, the ground is covered this year with an abundance of the white stuff.
It's great news for the team, which had been having to travel into northern Wisconsin to simply practice on snow in recent years. Obviously, that's no longer the case.
The team recently competed at Troll Hollow in Dresser, Wis., on Dec. 13.
The relay event featured a number of members on the team who were paired up as teams.
The girls varsity team was paced by the team of Sarah Peterson and Makaila England. Peterson had a time of 13 minutes, 53 seconds on her leg of the race. England finished in 20:20 for a combined time of 34 minutes, 23 seconds.
Rachel Peterson and Nika Rabaey also competed for the girls.
The boys varsity was led by Sean Eglington and Josh Swenson.
Eglington had a time of 12:57 and Swenson had a time of 21:56 for a combined total of 35:53.
The junior varsity girls were led by Megan England and Maria Michele. England had a time of 19:22 and Michele had a time of 18:36 for a combined time of 38:54.
Angie Putz and Kelsey Richards also competed for the girls.
For the junior varsity boys, the team of Joe Rabaey and James Harper led the way. Rabaey had a time of 13:41 and Harper had a time of 15:56. Their combined time was 29:37.
