The Hastings boys and girls alpine skiing teams have continued their strong seasons.

On Jan. 24, the Hastings girls placed third at a Suburban East Conference meet at Wild Mountain.

The boys were fourth.

Gabriella Sorg led the girls with a 13th-place finish. She finished her first run in 33.47 seconds nad had a time of 34.06 on the second run for a combined time of 67.53.

The winner, Elizabeth Koprucki of East Ridge, had a time of 59.38.

Esther Susag was 19th in 68.73 for Hastings.

Sara Juelfs took 27th in 71.51.

Ursula Rumann finished 39th in 74.5.

Ellie Peine took 41st in 74.77.

Danika Truax came in 46th in 79.81.

Katie Roach took 47th in 79.91.

Abby Boetcher finished 48th in 80.55.

Alex Brown placed 54th in 83.62.

Sarah Kieffer was 60th in 85.84.


The Hastings boys placed fourth out of the 10 SEC teams in the meet. The race was won by Stillwater. The Ponies finished with 830 points. East Ridge was second with 655, Woodbury was third with 578 and Hastings had 563.

The boys were led by Dustin Erickson, who placed sixth. He had a combined time of 47.73 seconds. He had a time of 23.43 on the first run and 24.3 on the second.

The winner, Nik Damberg of Mounds View, had a time of 46.08.

Adam Peine was 14th for the Raiders. He had a combined time of 50.13.

Stephen O'Connor placed 20th in 51.08.

Jacob Juelfs was 27th in 51.7.

Joe Wright was 42nd in 54.68.

Thomas Goonan was 51st in 57.98.

Will Caturia was 61st in 61.13.

Chris Erickson placed 62nd in 61.18.

Nate Strauss finished 63rd in 61.62.

In the boys junior varsity race, Hastings was led by Derek Iwasko, who took ninth place in 63.16 seconds.

Josh Juelfs took 13th in 71.07.
