Game recap: Pine Island wasn't able to take advantage of playing on its home court as they shot just 30 percent from the field and went 0-for-12 from beyond the arc.

"We slowly, in the second half, just pulled away," Z-M coach Scott Paukert said. "They never really did make a run on us."

Difference maker: "We did a nice job of taking care of the ball against their press," Paukert said. "That was one concern I had (going into) tonight."

Top players: With star sophomore Ashley Hinsch out for the rest of the season Z-M needed someone to step up -- enter Laura Brunner. The freshman, in her first start of her career, led her team with 16 points. She also dished out four assists and blocked two shots. Freshman Amber Jentsch scored seven points and pulled down five rebounds.

Next up: Goodhue at Zumbrota-Mazeppa (12-9 overall, 9-1 HVL Blue), 7:30 p.m. Friday
