Game recap: The Bombers outscored the home team 16-11 in the second half, but it was not enough to pick up a win Thursday.

Panthers freshman center Mattie Shelton led all scorers with 12 points.

Difference maker: Cannon Falls made two field goals in the first half. The Bombers were 1 of 14 inside the arc and 1-for-5 behind the arc.

"We had a rough first half," Bombers coach Chuck Benda said. "We got ourselves in a little too deep."

It didn't help that Pine Island knocked down five 3-pointers in the opening 18 minutes.

Top players: Jordan Montgomery, a junior, led Cannon Falls in points (10) and rebounds (eight). Classmate Katie Schreyer was second on the team with seven points. She hit one 3-pointer.

Next up: Cannon Falls (4-21 overall, 4-8 Hiawatha Valley League Blue Division) at Montgomery-Lonsdale, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday
