Goodhue had little trouble with Pine Island Tuesday in Goodhue, winning in three sets 25-13, 25-11, 25-16.
The Wildcats (4-7-2, 2-3 HVL) showed much better consistency Tuesday night, Goodhue head coach Andy Kimball said.
"We got our offense going a little bit tonight," he said. "It was a night where we definitely did all the little things and it definitely reflected in the outcome."
Junior Meredith Watson led the Wildcats with seven kills, and sophomore Shelby Hinsch provided six kills and three ace blocks with zero errors after recently being brought up to the varsity level. Junior Laurie Pearson had four kills, with three coming in the first set.
"She got us started off right," Kimball said of Pearson.
Goodhue junior Mikayla Tipcke had a team-leading 17 set assists and five ace serves. Junior Emilee Roschen added nine digs and two ace serves in the win.
"It was nice to take care of it the way we did in the midst of a lot of struggles we've had," Kimball said.
Pine Island was led by Niki Fokken with six kills and five digs, while Noelle Langworthy added 14 set assists.
The Wildcats travel to face second-ranked (Class 2A) Stewartville Thursday.
