Standing Strong 5K Run/Walk May 18

Oltman and Cottage Grove middle schools are launching the first-annual Standing Strong 5K Run/Walk to be held on Saturday, May 18, at Kingston Park in Cottage Grove. The event is a fundraiser to support anti-bullying programming in the community. Bullying has become a nationwide issue among kids in our schools. Each day 160,000 children stay home from school to avoid being bullied, and the effects can be life-long. Monies raised from this event will go toward programs designed to help students find their own courage to be themselves, make positive choices and stand up to bullying behavior. The event is sponsored by both middle schools and the Cottage Grove Lions Club. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. the morning of the race, and the race begins at 9 a.m. To pre-register, visit http://www.active.com/running/cottage-grove-mn/standing-strong-5k-run-wa.... The registration fee is $25 in advance $30 on race day. For more information visit the Standing Strong 5K Run/Walk website at http://sites.google.com/site/standingstrongcg."
