Goodhue’s top five defense was on display in Tuesday’s Hiawatha Valley League game against Kenyon-Wanamingo as the Wildcats held the Knights to eight first-half points on the way to a 45-37 home victory.
While points were hard to come by as well for Goodhue, the Wildcats got by K-W thanks to double-digit outputs from Austin Buck and Riley Augustine. Buck finished with 13 points and six rebounds (five offensive), while Augustine had 12 points and four steals. Tyler Schumacher added six points and a team-high seven boards in the victory.
Ben Nystuen and Marcus Irrthum each had 10 points for the Knights in the loss.
Now 15-10 overall and 9-10 in the HVL, Goodhue closes out the regular season Thursday at home against Section 1A opponent Lyle/Austin Pacelli.
