Stewartville’s Caitlyn Hughes kept Goodhue completely off the scoreboard on Thursday, throwing a no-hitter in the Tigers’ 11-0 five-inning Hiawatha Valley League victory in Stewartville.
In a game originally scheduled to play in Goodhue, Hughes struck out 10 in the victory. On offense, Meghan Schmitz chipped in with three hits, including a double, and an RBI. Amanda O’Connell added to Stewartville’s lead with a three-run home run in the fourth inning.
For the Wildcats, Laurie Pearson was pegged with the loss after giving up nine hits, 11 runs (four earned) and two walks to go with one strikeout.
Goodhue (2-3, 1-3 HVL) is back on the road Monday to take on rival Zumbrota-Mazeppa.
