All four area cross country teams ended up in the middle of the pack at Friday’s 14th annual Irish Invitational cross country meet.
On the boys side, the host Irish used a 15-second spread between their first five runners to place ninth out of 23 teams with 247 points. Farmington was close behind in 11th with 353 points.
Tiger senior Alex Hart had the fastest time on the two-mile course. He finished 30th overall with a two-mile clocking of 10 minutes, 49 seconds. Noah Revels (57th, 11:10), Derek Cole (82nd, 11:23), Brennen Peterson (101st, 11:36) and Cole Stansbury (106th, 11:39) rounded out the Farmington top five.
Junior Jonathan Meaden paced the Irish with a 42nd-place time of 11:00. Teammate Spencer Schultz was right behind in 11:01 and Caden Hill crossed the finish line 46th in 11:05. Travis Lorch (58th, 11:10) and Tanner Wenzel (63rd, 11:15) also provided counting scores.
In the girls race, Rosemount edged Farmington 238-253 in the battle for eighth place in the 19-team field.
Tiger runners Lauren Peterson and Josie Laube both placed in the top 10 for the second straight meet. Peterson, a returning all-state performer, came in third with a time of 11:50. Laube was seventh out of 148 runners in 12:18.
Anna Palodichuk (69th, 13:27), Mariana Montbriand (99th, 14:14) and Abby Bollig (105th, 14:31) rounded out Farmington’s top five.
Teresa Grunklee led the Irish with a 42nd-place 13:05 clocking. Sidney Preator was close behind with a 46th-place 13:08 and Dani Follett-Dion was 48thin 13:10.
Naomi Alvarez (55th, 13:17) and Sydney Hansen (57th, 13:18) completed the Irish pack.
