Cardinals and Panthers fans caught an equally-matched girls basketball game Tuesday night that ultimately ended in a 44-37 Ellsworth win over Spring Valley.

The Panthers are now 2-0 on the season, while the Cardinals are still winless at 0-3.

Autumn Earney led the Panthers in scoring with 15 points, and Olivia Lynner came in right behind Earney with 14 points, nine of which came from three crucial, second-half three-pointers.

Emma Swanson also added seven points to her team's win, Aly Reuvers scored four points, and Caitlin Dahl and Kaitlyn Nugent each scored two points apiece.

Spring Valley senior Brianna O'Brien was the Cardinals' leading scorer. O'Brien's seven second-half points kept her Cardinals squad from being blown out after halftime. She finished with 11 total points.

Camryn Wegener and Tessa Cipriano each added nine points apiece, Lexi Johansen recorded five points, and Brenna Schreiber added three points to her team's 37 total.
