It was a busy weekend for East Ridge and Park.
The Raptors wrestled Roseville and Forest Lake on Thursday night before heading down to Rochester for the big Christmas Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Wolfpack wrestled in the Park Invitational on Friday night.
On Thursday, the Raptors took on two tough teams, starting the night with a 58-21 dual win against Roseville. Then, their eyes were set on Forest Lake, but East Ridge wasn't able to get the victory. The Raptors fell 49-21.
On Friday, the focus changed to Rochester with some of the best wrestlers in the state. It was a two-day tournament, but East Ridge was determined to bring back wrestlers on the second day.
The Raptors did just that as they had eight wrestlers advance to Saturday for a chance at the podium.
Matt Hogue lost in the first round, while Vito Massa had a bye in the first round and lost in the second round. Tanner Holt also had a bye in the first round, but lost in the second round.
Hunter Lyden had a strong weekend as he won the first four rounds, but lost in the semifinals. He finished third in his weight class after pinning an Owatonna wrestler.
Royce Hogue lost in the first round, but Roman Rogotzke had a small run. He won the first three rounds and lost in the quarterfinals.
Ethan Pittman had a bye in the first round and won the next round, but lost to the top seed of his weight class. Marco Cavallaro won his first two rounds before losing in the quarterfinals.
Park wrestled Bloomington Kennedy on Friday night at the Park Invitational and dominated the entire dual. The Wolfpack won 57-14 and carried some confidence heading into next week before the holidays.
