The Mako Aquatics swimmers crowned four individual champions and one championship relay team at the 2019 Minnesota Short Course State Championships at the University of Minnesota March 7-10.

The Mako Aquatics boys' 13-14 team won the AA division title while the overall team finished sixth out of 45 teams in the AA division.

Sven Becker came home with four individual titles after winning the boys' age 13-14 100-yard freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke, while Ellery Ottem won the girls' 13-14 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle, and Sydney Rogness took first in the girls' 15-16 200 individual medley and 400 individual medley and Gabby Vitela won the girls' 17-18 1,650 freestyle.

Becker, Andrew Hanson, Taylor Matter and Theo Johansen teamed up for state titles in both the boys' 13-14 400 and 800 freestyle relays.

In the Individual High Point Awards, Becker was second for the 13-14 boys and Ottem was second for the 13-14 girls.

The team combined for 21 individual team records and 10 relay team records at the meet.
