Rosemount Irish senior lacrosse players Thomas Purfeerst and Luke Majewski will remain teammates beyond high school as they both signed Letters of Intent Wednesday morning, April 17, to play men's lacrosse at Lewis University. Lewis University is in Romeoville, Ill., and just announced the founding of their men's lacrosse program last fall with 2019-2020 its inaugural season. The Flyers are an NCAA Division II program that will compete in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Purfeerst said he wanted to go into aviation and thus was really only considering the University of North Dakota and Lewis University, though he was also recruited by the Virginia Military Institute. He eventually chose Lewis because of his ability to do both aviation and lacrosse there.
Majewski said his choice came down to Concordia University in Wisconsin, Benedictine University and Lewis University. He chose Lewis because it fit what he wanted academically (his goal is to become a physical therapist) and because the school's environment really made him feel at home.
So far the Irish boys' lacrosse team is 2-0 with blowout wins against Bloomington Kennedy and Bloomington Jefferson. They travel to Minnetonka on Saturday, April 20, and then host both Lakeville North and Lakeville South next week.
