Current head baseball coach and social studies teacher Paul Hartmann has been selected as the new activities director at Red Wing High School.
"Pending school board approval, I am extremely humbled and honored to support Red Wing activities’ students and staff moving forward in a positive direction, like so many of the outstanding school administrative leaders that made a profound impact on my life including Larry Sonju, Jim Pohl, Russ Marshall, Don Featherstone, and George Carter, amongst many others. Once a Winger, ALWAYS a Winger. #WingerPride," Hartmann emailed on Friday night.
In a press release, sent out Friday night as well, Red Wing Superintendent Karsten Anderson wrote, "Multiple stakeholders representing parents, activity advisors, coaches, and administrators interviewed three finalists. According to Superintendent Karsten Anderson, the three finalists were very strong; Hartmann was selected because he has 'strong community connections, extensive varsity coaching experience, and a passion for youth and activities.'”
Approval is pending a school board meeting scheduled for some time in July. Hartmann said he would like to meet with outgoing AD Bart Gray to discuss the transition.
