The Red Wing volleyball team fell in its first game of the season against Mankato East on Tuesday. The Wingers took the first set 25-19, but dropped the next three sets 25-21, 25-14 and 25-21.

"We played tough against a very scrappy Mankato East defense," said head coach Lindsay Woychek. "There were a lot of long rallies, we were just on the losing end of a few too many of them."

Abi Deming led the Wingers with 11 kills. Savannah Bryan paced the offense with 32 assists. Emily Burow had a team-high 14 digs. Elle Thorson contributed seven kills, 11 digs and two blocks. Maddie Castner had a team-high six blocks.

Red Wing next faces Rochester Mayo on the road on Thursday.
