The legion baseball sub-state playoffs started this past week and the Rosemount Legion Post 65 team saw their season come to an end after going 1-2 in Sub-State 5 bracket play.

The Irish-who were the No. 9 seed out of 10 teams-played a play-in game against No. 8 Lakeville North on Monday, July 22, at Alimagnet Field in Burnsville (where all Sub-State 5 games were played) and won 12-3.

They then faced top-seeded Woodbury Blue on Wednesday, July 24, in the first-round where they lost 10-3 and moved into the consolation bracket. Rosemount's season came to an end against No. 5 New Prague on Thursday, July 25, 6-5.

Rosemount fell behind Lakeville North early but then turned on the heat late in the game. The Panthers scored in the first to take a 1-0 lead before the Irish responded in the second with an RBI sacrifice fly that scored Grant Peroutka.

Lakeville retook the lead in the bottom of the inning and led 2-1 until the top of the fourth when Rosemount started to blow the game wide open.

The Irish took a 4-2 lead in the fourth on a two RBI triple by Mason Morehouse that scored Mason Parker and Princl, and then an RBI single by Connor Kenefick that brought in Morehouse. The next inning, they scored three more runs on another RBI single by Kenefick and some Lakeville errors. Leading 7-3, Rosemount then scored four more runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to go on to win 12-3.
