The Wildcat boys’ soccer team proved it can put some crooked numbers on the board in its two wins so far this season as it takes a record of 2-2 into its home opener under the lights on the new artificial turf of Raider Stadium Tuesday, Sept. 10, against Eau Claire Memorial.

The Cats dropped their season opener 2-0 to Marshfield when they missed some early chances and gave up a late penalty kick back on Aug. 29, but bounced back with a 7-1 victory the following day at Tomah. They netted five goals in a 5-1 win at Menomonie in their Big Rivers Conference opener Tuesday, Sept. 3, before dropping a 2-1 decision to Rice Lake Thursday, Sept. 5.

“Menomonie was another solid game where we started off well and just finished our chances,” head coach Marcos Rodriguez said. “Rice Lake was such a good game. We just couldn’t finish when we had our chances and they had two chances in and made them count.”

Rodriguez said the Wildcats are excited for their first night home game on the new artificial turf at the school’s Wildcat stadium 7 p.m. Tuesday night. They’ll visit Chippewa Falls Thursday, Sept. 12, before hosting a quad Saturday, Sept. 14, with games against La Crosse Central at 9 a.m. and Sparta at 3:30 p.m.
