Mankato West swept the Red Wing volleyball team, winning 25-21, 25-16, 28-26 on Tuesday.
The Wingers benefited from some over the net calls against the Scarlets in the third set and led 20-15 at one point. The Scarlets came out of a timeout on a roll and beat the surging Wingers in a tightly contested third set.
"We had a tough time shutting down their middles who ran a quicker offense than we have seen this season," Red Wing head coach Lindsay Woychek said. "We were competitive throughout all of the sets, and were able to use some of our versatility in switching up what positions girls were playing on the court."
Abi Deming led the Wingers with 13 kills and tied Emily Burow for the team-lead in digs with 12. Elle Thorson had nine kills, nine digs and two blocks. Savannah Bryan tallied 26 assists.
