Junior Kelly McKenzie and freshman Megan Trollen led the way for East Ridge in the win. McKenzie had the Raptors' top all-around score with a 34.475 to take third overall in the event. McKenzie won the floor exercise with a 9.45 and earned second in the vault with a 9.05. Trollen won the bars with a 9.075, took second on the beam with a 9.1 and finished in a tie for third in the floor exercise with a 9.05.
Mounds View's Nikki Birr won the all-around with a 36.05, followed by the Mustangs' Anna House (35.475).
In addition to McKenzie and Trollen, East Ridge freshman Karina Joiner scored an 8.9 in the vault, which was the Raptors' second-best score in the event. Also, freshman Kelsey Deverell had East Ridge's third-best beam routine, scoring an 8.425, the team's third-best floor exercise finish with an 8.725 and third-best vault with an 8.8. Deverell turned in a 33.4 all-around performance.
Next, East Ridge will compete in the Section 3AA championship meet on Friday, Feb. 15, at Eagan High School, where it will vie for team and individual state qualifications. The Raptors finished second in the section last season as a team. Individually, 2012 graduate Leah Robinette qualified for state in four events - going on to become the state champion in the vault - and Trollen earned a trip to state in the beam as an eighth grader.
