Brody Penman, 11, town of Somerset, has qualified for the preeminent amateur dirt bike race in the country.

He will participate in the 27th Annual Air Nautiques/AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn's ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., July 28-Aug. 2.

Penman, who won the Minnesota state title in his age group four times over the last six years, will compete in the 85cc, modified stock bike class. His final standings include a combined score from three races.

He is one of 1,386 racers who qualified for the championship contest from a field of more than 20,000 across the country.
