The Elmwood Expos have won all three of their July games and are consistently receiving fan support at their new Sportsman Field where seats and drinks are at a premium.
Expos 7, Bay City Bombers 1
The Expos claimed their first win of the month on Sunday, July 1, after Brady Yanish dealt all nine innings only allowing one earned run. Adam Churchill and Cody Holden were hot on the bats; Churchill doubled in the first inning right before Holden brought him home with a two-run bomb. The July 1 win was the Expos' first victory on Sportsman Field.
Expos 6, Plum City Blues 1
Elmwood held its opponents to zero earned runs on Saturday, July 7, in Dan Ginal's complete game in which he recorded nine strikeouts. The two St. Croix Valley Baseball League rivals were tied 1-1 after seven innings, but key hits from Royce Baier, Tyler Churchill, Adam and Holden in the final two frames allowed the Expos to claim the five-run advantage.
Expos 8, Ellsworth Hubbers 7
When down 7-6 on Sunday, July 8, the Expos rallied in the ninth inning with two runs produced by a bases-loaded walk and a walk-off sacrifice fly hit by Jeff Tiffany. Chad Fox and Dylan DeMotts pitched the win. Elmwood's Sunday victory brought them to a SCVBL record of 7-4.
The Expos return to play on Friday, July 13, at First Financial Bank Field in their league game against the River Falls Fighting Fish. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
