The Hastings Raider Legion Post 47 baseball team cruised past West St. Paul Tuesday night, June 25, at Veterans Park. The Raiders won 10-0 in six innings and could have ended the game even earlier but they left nine runners on base through the first four innings.

Drew Davis walked to start the game and proceeded to steal second and third before he scored on an RBI single by Jacob Biermaier. Isaac Flynn then doubled and Alex Otto walked, but two straight strikeouts ended in the inning. In the second inning, Davis started a two-out rally with a single, Danny Peters singled and Biermaier walked to load the bases. Flynn was then hit by a pitch which brought in a run and Otto scored two more on a two RBI single, but stranded two more runners.

Hastings added two more runs in the third to take a 6-0 lead after Davis scored for the third time and Will Lavin also came in as West St. Paul committed multiple errors and mistakes. Over those first three innings, Flynn was lights out on the mound as West St. Paul could not catch up to his fastball and the right side of the Raiders' defense-especially Davis in right field-was kept busy.

The Raiders only scoreless inning came in the fourth and they added one more run in the fifth on an RBI single by Flynn. In the later innings, West St. Paul was able to get some men on base and threaten Hastings but each time Flynn and his defense were able to get out of jams. They then ended the game in the bottom of the sixth by scoring three more runs on RBI singles by Zach Jorgensen and Peters and then an RBI walk by Ben Teigland.

Flynn went five innings on the mound for Hastings and gave up four hits and three walks with four strikeouts for the win. Otto relieved him in the sixth and struck out two batters. Flynn also led the team with three hits while Peters added two, Otto had two RBI and Drew Davis racked up three runs and three stolen bases. Eight different Raiders combined for 11 hits and seven RBI.

Hastings played at Inver Grove Heights on Wednesday and then travel to Rosemount for a doubleheader on Sunday. They host Farmington on Tuesday, July 2.
