At 2:02 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, top ranked basketball prospect and East Ridge sophomore Kendall Brown announced on Twitter his decision to transfer from East Ridge High School and attend Sunrise Christian Academy next year.

The tweet included a picture of him at Sunrise Christian Academy with the Sunrise jersey on along with a message saying, "I would like to thank East Ridge High School for an amazing 2 years and memories that will last a lifetime. I'm forever thankful for the love and support Ive received over the past years and with that said, I will be attending Sunrise Christian Academy next year."

Sunrise Christian Academy is located in Bel Aire, Kansas, which is about nine miles northeast of downtown Wichita, Kansas. The academy is known for developing basketball players and preparing them for college basketball.

The alumni from Sunrise Christian Academy include: Matt Haarms at Purdue and Buddy Hield who went to Oklahoma and is currently with the Sacramento Kings. The academy has sent 45 players to play college basketball in the past four graduating classes.

Brown helped lead the Raptors to a state tournament appearance last season, the first time in program history, as well as winning East Ridge's first ever section title in boys basketball program history.

The 6-foot-9 small forward is currently ranked 23rd nationally and second in the state of Minnesota for the class of 2021 with a composite score of 0.9898 out of 1.0000, according to 247Sports. He's also ranked 22nd in the Class of 2021 ESPN 60 list.

Due to his national attention, Brown has received offers from numerous schools during his sophomore year last season. Those schools that offered include: Creighton, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Iowa State, Nebraska, Saint Louis and Texas. Many coaches have made trips out to East Ridge for games during the winter season to see Brown along with other top prospect Ben Carlson.

Brown led the Raptors with 17.5 points per game last season and also contributed 2.5 assists per game and 2.8 rebounds per game. He helped led East Ridge to a 24-2 season last year.

East Ridge will return players like Ben Carlson, ranked 74th nationally and fourth in Minnesota from 247Sports, Brody Kriesel, Kendall Blue, Drew Adams and Zac Thomas along with a new head coach Josh Peltier next season.
