The Hastings Raiders boys and girls cross country team hosted their annual Dewey Minnaert Invitational at St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park on Thursday, Sept. 6. Both teams finished in eighth place in fields of 12 teams for the boys and eight for the girls. Sophomore Linnea Urban was the top runner for both teams in the 5,000-meter race with a fourth-place finish and a time of 20 minutes, 26.26 seconds (20:26.26).

The boys finished eighth out of 12 teams with 220 points, just one point behind seventh-place Park of Cottage Grove. The winner was Red Wing with 26 points, more than 40 ahead of second-place East Ridge.

Senior Eric Howd was the top runner for the Raider boys, taking 15th with a time of 17:12.13. Junior Luke Harris was 44th in 18:23.43 and sophomore Nolan Myers finished 57th (18:53.27). Junior Isaac Huntington placed 62nd with a time of 19:02.87 and not far behind him was senior Justin Stoffel in 68th in 19:19.96. Junior William Jensen took 74th (19:34.60), sophomore Evan McGinnis placed 78th with a time of 19:44.98, fellow sophomore Tyler Johnson was 81st in 20:02.53, senior Joshua Wilson finished not far behind in 84th (20:19.02) and junior Alex Keller took 89th with a time of 20:50.01.

Meanwhile the girls' team still lacks numbers and only had five runners compete, though they were just two points behind the Park Wolfpack who took seventh in the girls' race.

The Raiders were led by Urban with her taking fourth in 20:26.26. She was followed by Megan Mattson in 39th with a time of 23:32.44. Freshman Molly Caturia took 43rd in 23:41.50, senior Abby Siebenaler was 60th (24:40.46) and sophomore Brooke Erickson finished 64th in 27:03.40.

Both teams travel to Rochester for a meet hosted by Rochester Mayo at Eastwood Golf Course on Thursday, Sept. 13.
