Sisters Leah and Stephanie Herzog teamed up to win the MGA Women's Four-Ball Championship on August 7-8 at the Elk River Golf Course.
The former Red Wing Wingers edged Emma and Megan Welch by two strokes for the win (141-143).
On the first of the two-day event, Stephanie got the pair's first birdie on No. 8. At the first turn, the two had a 36. On the back nine, Stephanie birdied on No. 10 and No. 16 while Leah had a timely par on hole No. 12.
At the end of the first day, the Herzog sisters trailed the Welch sisters 69-71.
On Day 2, Stephanie struggled on a few holes, but Leah parred holes No. 4, 7 and 8 to help the the pair stay on track. At the turn, the Herzog's made up three shots on the Welch sisters to take a one-stroke lead heading into the back nine.
On the final nine holes, Stephanie birdied No. 10 and No. 18 to lead the pair to an even 70 for the day. The Herzog's gained four shots on the Welch's in the second round, out shooting them 70-74, to win the championship.
