The Raider boys’ golf team finished three strokes behind Rice Lake at the Big Rivers Conference Tournament at Lake Wissota in Chippewa Falls Thursday, May 16, but it was good enough to make them 2019 BRC champions.

Hudson won five of the six regular season matches and needed nothing worse than a third place finish at the conference tourney to claim the overall title. Their 304 team score left them three strokes behind first place Rice Lake for second place to win their first conference title since 2015. Eau Claire Memorial was third with 314 followed by River Falls with 321, Menomonie with 344, Chippewa Falls with 354 and Eau Claire North with 393.

Charley Chase led Hudson with a fourth place score of 74 while Ben Pendleton shot 75 to finish in a three-way tie for fifth. Bennett Swavely added a ninth place score of 78 while Nolan Wagner rounded out the Raider’s team total with 80. Jacob Johnson finished one stroke behind with 81. Simon Cuskey of Rice Lake took medalist honors with 70.

Next up for the Raiders is the WIAA Division 1 Regional Tuesday, May 21, at Nemadji Golf Course in Superior.
