The Raider gymnastics team posted a season-high score to beat Eau Claire Memorial/North, 135.725 to 130.750 in the final Big Rivers Conference dual meet of the season Thursday, Feb. 1 in Eau Claire.
The Raiders, who have posted season best scores in each of their last three meets, will try to continue that trend when they compete at the Big Rivers Conference Championships in River Falls Friday, Feb. 16.
Last Thursday's victory gave Hudson a final regular season record of 4-2 to clinch no worse than a second place finish in the BRC, behind undefeated and two-time conference champion River Falls.
Freshman Caroline Erickson and senior Taylor Owens each won one event and finished second and third, respectively, in the all-around competition to lead the Raiders at Eau Claire.
Erickson scored 8.6 to win the vault competition and Owens was third with 8.4, while Owens took first in the floor exercise with a score of 9.025. Raider freshman Kaitlyn Auge was third on the floor with an 8.9.
Erickson added second place scores of 8.675 on the balance beam and 8.65 on the uneven bars to finish with a second place all-around total of 34.725 while Owens was third in the all-around with 34.2.
The BRC Championships will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at Meyer Middle School in River Falls. Following the conference meet the Raiders will compete in the WIAA Sectional Saturday, Feb. 24, at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School. The top two teams at the sectional and the top five gymnasts in each individual event and the all-around will qualify for the WIAA State Championships March 2-3 in Wisconsin Rapids.
