The Rosemount Irish gymnastics time has a few competitions under the belt heading into the holiday season. They opened their season on Dec. 8 at the Prior Lake Invite, went to Lakeville South on Dec. 11 and then hosted Eagan on Dec. 18.
The Irish took fifth with a team score of 136.15 at Prior Lake against the Lakers, Watertown-Mayer, Eden Prairie, Chanhassen, Lakeville South, Minnetonka and New Prague. Senior Arianna Passeri won the vault with a 9.45 and took second with a floor exercise score of 9.3. On the uneven bars, senior Alex Barcus was sixth with an 8.5, Foyt was 10th and eighth-grader Addy Anderson finished in 11th.
Rosemount's trip to Lakeville South resulted in a loss and what head coach Jason Passeri said was the team's lowest point total in a varsity meet in 14 years. Passeri took first on vault and fifth on floor. Foyt won the uneven bars and finished fourth on vault. Barcus was second on bars, sophomore Allison Zeigler took fifth on the balance beam and senior Tess Durscher finished fourth on floor.
The Irish turned things around when they hosted the Eagan Wildcats on Dec. 18. They edged out Eagan 138.85 to 138.15 while junior varsity also beat the Wildcats 127-124. Foyt was the runner-up in the all-around with a total score of 35.35 while she finished fourth on vault (8.7) and second on bars (8.8) and beam (8.7), while tying for third on floor with senior Alexys Berger. Passeri took second on the vault (9.5) and floor, Anderson tied-for-fifth on vault with Berger and took fourth on bars and Barcus took fifth on bars and tied for fourth on the beam with eighth-grader Rosella Zaske.
Rosemount hosts Bloomington Jefferson on Saturday, Dec. 29, and then go to Faribault on Jan. 5.
