The Hudson gymnastics team is having a very good year.
The Raiders are 4-0 in Big Rivers Conference competition and have taken first place in every tournament they've attended. The latest came Saturday, Jan. 12, when they posted a season-high score of 138.55 to win the River Falls Winter Wonderland Invitational.
Chisago Lakes placed second at the 11-team event with 137.125 while host River Falls was third with 136.4.
Paige Hillman won an individual title on the uneven bars and Ava Jensen took first in the vault while Caroline Erickson made four trips to the awards podium including a second-place standing in the all-around.
"It was overall a great team win with all the girls showing consistency on all four events," coach Katie Beaupre said.
Hillman was limited to competing in just one event by an injured ankle but made the best of it with a first-place score of 9.3 on the uneven bars. Erickson tied for sixth in the event with an 8.5.
Jensen led three Raiders with podium finishes in the vault with a first place score of 9.375. Erickson tied for fifth with 9.25 while Amber Robey was eighth with 9.0. Jensen was also the Raider's top scorer on the balance beam, just missing a trip to the podium with a ninth-place score of 8.5.
Erickson added a fourth-place score of 9.35 in the floor exercise and contributed a score of 8.35 on the balance beam to the team's point total to finish second in the all-around competition with a total score of 33.35.
In addition to winning the vault and placing ninth on the beam, Jensen also scored 8.5 on the balance beam and 7.975 on bars to finish sixth in the all-around with a total of 34.7. Felicia Bartell of St. Francis won the all-around title with 36.2.
Next up for the Raiders is the Henry Sibley Invitational this Saturday, Jan. 19.
