The defense was stiff and the offense did enough for Red Wing on Saturday in a 3-0 Big Nine Conference victory at Owatonna.
Taylor Heise scored twice, once in the first period and once in the third, to give the Wingers a two-goal lead. Sophie Schafer filled an empty net late in the third for Red Wing's third goal.
But it was on the other end where the Wingers controlled the game. Red Wing allowed just two shots on goal in the first, and just four in the third and 14 total. Laura Ebeling made 27 saves for the Huskies, while Tyler McGrath stopped all 14 shots she faced for the shutout.
On Tuesday, the fifth-ranked Wingers (16-4-0) host No. 6 South St. Paul (16-4-2) in a Class A showdown.
