Wednesday was a big day for a handful of student athletes from East Ridge, Woodbury and New Life Academy as they signed their National Letters of Intent.
Woodbury and East Ridge had eight students each sign on Wednesday while New Life Academy had three. Here's a list of all the students and where they are heading for colleges next fall.
Courtney Brown Jr.-University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
Brown Jr. has helped build the East Ridge boys basketball program into what it is today. After an extended process of visiting schools and receiving many different offers, Brown Jr. decided on the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for his future college plans.
Wisconsin-Milwaukee finished the 2017-18 season with a 16-17 record and ended its season with a loss in the semifinals in the Little Caesars Motor City Madness in Detroit.
Addi Scribner-Ohio State University
Scribner is one of the top scorers for the East Ridge girls hockey team and will bring that scoring ability to the Buckeyes next year at Ohio State. Scribner just finished off a hat trick on Tuesday night against Hastings.
The Buckeyes finished the 2017-18 season with a record of 24-11-4 and are currently 9-5 in the 2018-19 season with two wins over Minnesota State Mankato and one win over the University of Minnesota.
Delaney Goertzen-Drake University
Goertzen is one of three girls soccer players playing college soccer next season, but she helped lead this team to a conference title this past fall.
Drake finished the 2018 season with a record of 9-9-1 and the Bulldogs also finished with a 5-1-1 record.
Reegan Goulding-Bemidji State University
Goulding was also a part of the East Ridge girls soccer team and helped lead the Raptors to a conference title this season.
The Beavers finished the 2018 season with a record of 18-1-2 and lost to Central Missouri in the NCAA Division II Central Regional Tournament at the end of the season. Bemidji State finished the regular season with a 14-0-1 conference record.
Linnea Yacovella-University of Minnesota
Yacovella was the one of the leading scorers for the East Ridge girls soccer team and helped lead the Raptors to a conference title this past fall.
The Golden Gophers season is still happening as Minnesota is playing No. 4 UCLA in the second round of the NCAA Championships. Minnesota won the Big Ten Tournament after defeating Penn State in the championship on penalty kicks.
Sidney Zavoral-Eastern Illinois University
Zavoral was a utility player for the East Ridge softball team and played anywhere and everywhere that the coaches needed her that day. She also played on the East Ridge girls tennis team this past fall.
Eastern Illinois finished the 2018 season with a 36-20 record and a 13-9 conference record. The Panthers went 2-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament at the end of the season.
Stephanie Barber-University of West Florida
Head coach Steve Anderson said that Barber wanted to go somewhere warm for college, so the volleyball setter decided to pick a place that has two beaches on each side of the campus. Barber also said goodbye to the snow in her speech on Wednesday.
The Argonauts currently have a 25-7 record in the 2018 season and a 15-1 conference record as their season is wrapping up. West Florida will be starting its NCAA Tournament throughout the next week.
Kate Reimann-Augustana University
Reimann has lead the East Ridge volleyball team with kills over the past couple seasons and surpassed the 1,000 mark for kills this season as a senior.
Augustana completed the 2018 season with a 16-14 record as it lost to Millikin in the CCIW Tournament a few weeks ago.
Ashley Hewitt-Winona State University
Hewitt helped lead the Woodbury girls soccer team finish the season with a 9-2-3 record.
Winona State ended the 2018 season with an 8-8-1 record and an 8-6-1 conference record. The Warriors ended their season with a loss in the NSIC Tournament.
McKenna Strand-North Dakota State University
Strand finished her senior season with a 9-2-3 record with the Woodbury girls soccer season.
The Bison completed their 2018 season with a 9-7 record and a 6-2 conference record. North Dakota State's season came to a close as the Bison lost to No. 2 Denver at the beginning of November.
Shweta Raje-University of Denver
Raje was the senior goalie for the Woodbury girls soccer team as the Royals finished the season with a 9-2-3 record.
The Pioneers finished the 2018 season with a 13-6-2 record and a 7-1 conference record. Denver won the Summit League Tournament and ended its season in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Arizona with a 3-0 final score.
Gavin Olson-Wheeling Jesuit University
Olson was one of the leaders of the Woodbury boys lacrosse team this past spring.
The Cardinals completed the 2018 season with a 6-9 record and a 4-3 conference record. Wheeling Jesuit lost in the semifinals of the G-MAC Tournament to end its season.
Maddi Hanson-University of Sioux Falls
Hanson will be playing her senior year on the Woodbury girls golf team this upcoming spring and will help lead the Royals this season.
The Cougars finished their season in third place at the NSIC Women's Golf Championship last spring.
Isabelle Parker-Young Harris College
Parker will be one of the leaders heading into the spring for the Woodbury girls lacrosse team.
Young Harris finished the 2018 season with a 14-5 record and an 8-0 conference record. The Mountain Lions went 2-0 in the Gulf South Conference Invitational Tournament to end their season.
Grace Beseman-Concordia (St. Paul) University
Beseman is a catcher and shortstop for the Woodbury softball team and will be a leader on the spring season.
The Golden Bears finished the 2018 season with a 30-24 record as Concordia had a 2-2 record in the NSIC Tournament to end the spring season.
Adam Mazur-South Dakota State University
Mazur was a pitcher and shortstop for the Woodbury baseball team and will be a key leader for the Royals this upcoming season to end his high school career.
The Jackrabbits completed the 2018 season with an 18-32 record and a 14-13 conference record.
New Life Academy
Jessica Hase-Biola University
Hase was one of the leaders for the New Life Academy's girls soccer team.
Biola went 7-7-4 in the 2018 season with a 5-4-2 conference record. Hase will go from being an Eagle at New Life to being an Eagle at Biola.
Sophia Sosa-Wayne State College
Sosa was one of the captains for the New Life Academy's girls soccer team.
Wayne State finished the 2018 season with a 4-12-1 record along with a 4-10-1 conference record.
Claire Maple-Florida Southern College
Maple was one of the captains for the girls soccer team at New Life Academy and will be heading to the warm state of Florida next fall for college.
Florida Southern completed the 2018 season with a 5-10-1 record and a 3-7 conference record.
