Members of the Hudson Raider trap team were among over 400 athletes from 29 teams who competed at the Wisconsin State Sporting Clays Tournament at Woods and Meadow Hunting Preserve and Sporting Clays in Black River Falls this past weekend, June 7-9.

Hudson's varsity squad of Jake McCorkel, Brandon Armstrong and Tyler Melloy secured second place in the varsity division with McCorkel hitting 91 of 100 shots and Armstrong and Melloy 91 each for a total of 274 out of 300.

Overall, McCorkel, Armstrong and Melloy finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, with McCorkel and Armstrong earning spots on the Wisconsin All-State Sporting Clays Team where they will represent Wisconsin at the National Shooting Championships in Marengo, Ohio later this summer.

The Raider's Intermediate Advanced Division squad consisting of Lonny Feia (74/100), Peyton Johnson (72/100) and Brady Kern (66/100) took home the third place trophy and medals hitting 212 of 300 targets.

The Raider's also had several shooters that made the top 10 in their class including McCorkel (Varsity - 4th), Armstrong (Varsity - 5th), Melloy (Varsity - 6th), Jack Kraft (Junior Varsity -10th), Lonny Feia (Intermediate Advanced- 9th), Caitlin Cravens (Ladies Varsity - 4th), Selina Swenson (Ladies Intermediate Advanced - 8th), Claire Diethert (Ladies Intermediate Advanced- 9th), Lauren Kern (Ladies Intermediate Entry - 7th) and Alyssa Grezek (Ladies Intermediate Entry - 10th).

The Raiders head off to Racine this coming weekend, June 14-16, to compete in the Wisconsin State Pistol, Rifle and Carbine Tournament sponsored by the Scholastic Action Shooting Program, and to Sauk City for the Wisconsin State Skeet Tournament sponsored by the Scholastic Clay Target Program.
