The Wildcat girls’ soccer team put 13 balls in the net in its last two games, including a season-high seven Thursday night, April 18 in Rice Lake, to stretch its winning streak to five and stay undefeated in Big Rivers Conference play at 3-0.
The Cats posted a 6-1 win over Menomonie Tuesday, April 16, and beat Rice Lake 7-1 Thursday night to improve to 5-2 overall.
Lyndsey Szymanski became the third different Wildcat freshman this season to register a hat trick with three of the Cat’s six goals against Menomonie. Twin sister Lexi Szymanski, junior Mady Shew and sophomore Mya Callanan added one goal each.
Shew, Lexy Szymanski and freshman Liv Nelson scored two goals apiece and Lindsey Szymanski had one in the Cat’s 7-1 victory Thursday night at Rice Lake. The game was originally scheduled as a home match for the Wildcats but was moved to Rice Lake due to unplayable field conditions in River Falls.
The Wildcats are currently in a three-way tie for first place in the BRC with Eau Claire Memorial and Hudson but that is certain to change next week as the Cats host the Old Abes Tuesday, April 23, at 5 p.m. and Hudson Friday, April 26, at 4 p.m. In between they will host Chippewa Falls on Thursday, April 25, at 5 p.m.
