The Raider softball team swept Eau Claire Memorial 6-1 and 8-1 Thursday, May 9, in Eau Claire to stay undefeated in Big Rivers Conference play and set up a showdown with Chippewa Falls Monday, May 13, with the conference title on the line.

The Raiders and Cardinals both go into Monday’s doubleheader 10-0 in the BRC. The first pitch of the twin bill is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Hudson’s Grandview Park.

Thursday in Eau Claire, Avery Johnson came up a home run short of hitting for the cycle and Sydney Gabriel struck out 14 as the Raiders took the first game 6-1.

Johnson had a hand in five of the Raiders six runs, finishing with a single, double, triple, three RBI and two runs scored.

Gabriel allowed just three hits while striking out 14 without a walk. Eau Claire Memorial’s lone run cam on a home run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Grace O’Brien had the big bat in the nightcap, going 4-for-4 and scoring three times. Paige Meyer tripled in two runs and Hannah Stich and Emily Juza each had an RBI double while Ellie Yeager had two hits, including a triple, and scored twice.

O’Brien went the distance in the circle, allowing for hits and one unearned run while striking out six and walking one.
