The bats came alive in the fifth inning as the fifth-ranked Randolph softball team forged ahead to defeat GMLOK 8-3 on Thursday.
Tied 1-1. the Rockets scored five runs -- all with two outs -- in the fifth. Kenna Foss reached on an error, then Chloe Kimmes walked. Kenna Otte drove in Foss on a single. Morgyn Otte followed with an RBI-single. Megan Erickson reached on an error and Kenna Otte scored on the play. Meredith Taylor drove in a run on a single, and Lindsey Grant’s pop fly was mishandled. On the play, Grant reached base safely and the fifth run of the inning scored.
Kenna Otte collected three hits, scored three runs and drove in two runs. Morgyn Otte struck out 12 batters the complete-game victory.
Randolph finished the regular 18-2 overall and 10-0 in the Southeast Conference. The Rockets next play Monday in the 4A Section playoffs.
Cannon Falls 15, Minnehaha Academy 8
Trailing 5-4, Cannon Falls took the lead for good in an eight-run fourth inning.
Bomber Kayley Frenette went 3-for-3, which included a double, and had two RBI. Anja Black had two hits and two RBI. Bella Davisson went 2-for-2 with an RBI and scored two runs.
Abby Breuer earned the win in the circle for the Bombers.
Cannon Falls next plays in the Section 2AA playoffs on Tuesday. The Bombers finished the regular season 9-7 overall and 6-4 in the Hiawatha Valley League.

The Randolph softball team topped Stewartville 10-1 on Tuesday.
Usually a team that scores in bunches later in the game, Randolph jumped out to an early first-inning lead. Meredith Taylor singled in the first of five runs in the first inning for the Rockets. Andrea Splichal doubled in two runs. Cheyann Freundschuh followed with an RBI-double, then came around to score on two passed balls.
The Rockets led 5-1 after the first and added on in the second. Chloe Kimmes led off with a home run to center field. An error five batters later allowed Megan Erickson and Kenna Otte to score. Splichal singled home a run to cap a four-run second.
The Rockets added a run for good measure in the fourth, but nine was plenty for Morgyn Otte who tossed her second shut out of the week. Otte allowed a run on three hits, no walks and struck out five in the complete-game win.
Cannon Falls 2, Pine Island 1
Tied 1-1 in the seventh, Cannon Falls loaded the bases with the winning on third base. The Bombers won the game on a throwing error on a ground ball in the infield.
Abby Breuer led the Bombers, going 2-for-2 at the plate and getting the win in the circle. Breuer allowed one run on three hits and five walks while striking out 12 batters.
Panther McKenna Mathison went 2-for-4 with a double. Marissa Walters had a hit and scored the Panther's lone run.
Kasson-Mantorville 15, Lake City 1 (five innings)
Kasson-Mantorville score in every inning en route to five-inning victory.
The KoMets scored three runs in the first, second and third innings. The Tigers scored its lone run in the third inning. The KoMets piled on for a run in the fourth and five more runs in the fifth.
Elyse Dalager went 2-for-2 with a double and a run for the Tigers.
