The Rosemount Irish girls' swimming and diving team beat the Eastview Lightning during Senior Night last Tuesday as they capped off the regular season. The Irish won eight of the twelve events as they head into the postseason with the Section 3AA meet at BlueWater Aquatics in Apple Valley Nov. 7-9.

Winning events were the 200 medley relay team of sophomores Kathleen Bartz and Balor O'Donnel, junior Nicholle Miller and senior Anna Wenman with a time of 1 minute, 56.32 seconds; Wenman won the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.84 and the 100 butterfly (58.35), and Miller took the 50 freestyle in 26.24.

Sophomore Holly Bernadin won the diving with a score of 170.65, Bartz finished first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:40.34 and Rosemount grabbed another relay win when the team of Miller, O'Donnel and seniors Taylor Barabash and Maggie Hinderaker took home the 200 freestyle relay (1:45.47). Junior Molly Urkiel placed first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.61.

Runners-up were junior Grace Urkiel in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:01.01 and in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.31), Molly Urkiel finished second in the 200 IM in 2:14.02 and Barabash placed second in the 100 freestyle (55.24).

Third-place swimmers were the 200 medley relay team of freshmen Sophia Wallberg and Kylie Driscoll, junior Alana Ortiz and Hinderaker in 2:03.83; Barabash in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:03.38; sophomore diver Claire Westman with a score of 157.95 and Wallberg in the 100 butterfly (1:04.97). The 200 freestyle relay team of both Urkiels, Driscoll and sophomore Skylar Newman were third in 1:48.67, Miller took third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 57.21 and Bartz in the 100 backstroke in 1:05.99.

Head coach Jake Kemna said it was a great way to head into the postseason.

"We had a really great meet," he said. "It was our senior night and the girls really swam well as a team. Every event we had our girls swimming and diving right where we wanted them going into the postseason. Overall it was a great meet to close out the regular season."
