The Hastings Area Swim Team participated in the Minnesota Achievement Championships July 13-14 in Farmington. Seventeen HAST swimmers competed at this meet and achieved new times in the B-6 and C-6 divisions. The swimmer of the meet was Jackson Harre who swam six-out-of-seven best times. Four of those were new B times in the 50-meter, 100 and 200 freestyle and the 400 individual medley.

A couple days later, 19 HAST swimmers traveled to Burnsville for the BDOG Summer Novice Finals where they set new times in B-3 and C-18. Newcomer Matthew Foss was named swimmer of the meet. This was Foss’ first season swimming and his first meet. He clocked in three new C times in the 50 freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke.

On July 18-21 six swimmers competed in the Speedo Sectional Championship Series on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Two new CHAMP times were set by Kendra Kosmoski in the 100 freestyle and Kiya Riley in the 100 butterfly. Dylan Purrington was the swimmer of the meet after breaking four team records.

More than 50 swimmers attended the Minnesota Regional Championships (MRC’s) in Rochester July 18-21. At this meet they set team records in five divisions. Philip Jensen’s weekend performances stood out earning him swimmer of the meet. He swam seven-out-of-seven best times, cut just over 32 seconds overall off of his swims and set three new CHAMP Times and three new A Times. Other notable performances at the MRC’s came in the form of two team records being broken by Emma Dehmlow in the 50 butterfly with a time of 41.94 seconds and Kira Aarness in the 1,500 freestyle in 20 minutes, 8.45 seconds.

Setting new Zone times were Kira Aarness and Ava McNamara. New CHAMP times were achieved by Chloe Aarness, Thomas Foss, Oliver Gergen, Lauren Jenkins, Charlie Jensen, Philip Jensen, Josephine Larson, Mitchell LeMay, Nathan LeMay, Ava McNamara, Lila Salzman, Brandon Schwartz, Devin Schwartz and Caleb Urban.

New A times were swam by Kira Aarness, Clara Birken, Oliver Gergen, Isabel Green, Charlie Jensen, Philip Jensen, Tyson Kalinowski, Josephine Larson, Mitchell LeMay, Nathan LeMay, Devin Schwartz and Caleb Urban.

New BB times came from Evan Darling, Emma Dehmlow, Adam Duer, Annabelle Ellsworth, Thomas Foss, Oliver Gergen, Isabel Green, Oscar Green, Jackson Harre, George Jensen, Marcus Mulvihill, Annika Ries and Isabella Schneider.

Setting new B Times were Alliah Clark, Daniel Foss, Jackson Harre, Eloise Prettyman and Taylor Schmaltz.

Lastly, recording new C times were Benjamin Barker, Garson Aarness, Gabri Clark, Annabelle Ellsworth, Lucas Foss, Matthew Foss, George Jensen, Lauren Krause, Eloise Prettyman and Taylor Schmaltz.
