RIVER FALLS -- Freshman Ellery Ottem continued her assault on the River Falls girls’ swim team’s record book with a pair of new school marks in the Wildcat’s 122-64 Big Rivers Conference win over Eau Claire North Thursday, Sept. 12, in River Falls.

Ottem, who broke school records in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races in the Cat’s first meet of the season Aug. 27, against Tartan, set a new record in her first race of the night Thursday while winning the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 53.42 seconds. Later in the meet she earned her fourth school record of the season with a first place time of 58.95 seconds in the 100 butterfly.

Sydney Fleming, who set the 100 backstroke school record earlier this season, won the event Thursday in 1:02.87 while also taking first in the 200 individual medley in 2:18.05.

River Falls has already set five new school records in its first three dual meets of the season -- all victories.

“We've started off the season with some impressive record-breaking swims,” head coach Rachael Jensen said. “Our girls are really motivated to work hard and win races. It's exciting to see.”

Sam Troyer contributed a first place time of 5:51.81 in the 500 freestyle Thursday while the Wildcats swept all three relays and took the top three spots in diving to overwhelm the Huskies.

In the 200 medley relay, Fleming, Isabelle Greenwood, Jane Briese and Sam Troyer combined for a first place time of 2:07.02, while Briese, Teagan Stavinoha, Greenwood and Ottem won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:51.08. Troyer, Sadie Ottem, Fleming and Ellery Ottem won the 400 free relay in 4:08.96.

Sadie Ottem was the top Wildcat finisher in the 50 freestyle with a second place time of 28.04 seconds while Sam Burke took second in the 100 freestyle in 1:03.25.

The Wildcats will visit Hudson for a BRC meet Thursday, Sept. 19, at 6:30 p.m.
